  • Improved Victron Communications: This update refines the handling of high voltage alarms in the V2 model to ensure accurate performance. Improved communication enhances the monitoring and control of the battery system for greater reliability.
  • Improved Scalability: Parallel Capability: The system can now handle up to 16 batteries in parallel, compared to the previous limitation of just 4. This greatly expands the potential for energy storage, allowing for larger systems.
  • Upgraded Internal Components: Certified Components: The internal fuse is UL60691 certified, and the battery cells meet a range of safety and quality standards, including UL1642, UL1973, U9540A, IEC 62619:2017, and RoHS. This indicates that the battery is built to high safety standards and is suitable for various applications.
  • Battery UL Listing: The battery is in the process of receiving its UL Listing (a certification for safety and quality). This will further confirm its compliance with industry standards.
  • Improved Bluetooth App Compatibility: All-Battery Dashboard: The app now supports connecting to and monitoring all batteries from a single dashboard, even if you have up to 16 batteries in your system. This makes it easier to manage large-scale installations.
  • BMS Over-the-Air Firmware Updates: The system can now receive firmware updates remotely via the app. This ensures the battery management system (BMS) is always running the latest software, which can improve performance, security, and features over time.
  • Upgraded Battery Gauge: Better Monitoring: The new battery gauge provides more detailed information, including State of Charge (SOC), voltage, current flow, and alarm alerts. This is a significant improvement over the older version, which only had a 10-segment gauge. The added details help with better monitoring of the system's health and performance.

For Use with Victron Communications, Alternator Charging, or Solar Charging:

    - Maximum Charge Voltage: Set a lower maximum charge voltage of 13.8 or 13.9 volts to ensure stable operation and to prevent nuisance codes on the Cerbo GX and unintentional disconnections of charge MOSFETs. Disconnections during direct alternator charging may cause voltage spikes harmful to sensitive electronics in your DC system.

    - Float Voltage: Adjust the float voltage to 13.4 or 13.5 volts. In systems with constant loads (e.g., lighting, fans), the charger in float mode should supply most, if not all, of the current needed for these loads while maintaining the battery voltage at the set float level. The effectiveness of this operation is influenced by the charger's capacity, float mode voltage setting, and the total load.

    - Solar Charging Considerations: The ability of the charger to maintain the batteries during solar charging will vary throughout the day with the available sunlight.

    UL1973, UL1642, IEC 62133, UN38.3 certified.

To properly charge your Epoch Batteries, you will want to verify that any charging component in your system is capable of being programmed for the following specifications. Charging components can include, but are not limited to converters, inverter chargers, solar charge controllers, DC to DC chargers, etc.
    • Bulk/Absorption: 14.2V – 14.6V
    • Absorption Time: Two batteries in parallel connections require 30 minutes 200Ah
    • Float: 13.4V – 13.8V
    • Equalization: 14.4V/ Disabled
    • Temperature Compensation: 0/Disabled
    • Charge Rate: 50% of the battery or battery bank capacity
    • Battery Charge Temperature Range: 32°F (0°C) to 131°F (55°C)
    • Battery Discharge Temperature Range: -4°F (-20°C) to 140°F (60°C)
    • Cell Charge Temperature: 32°F (0°C) to 131°F (55°C)
NOTE: Not all chargers are capable of multistage charging. If yours is not, you will want to verify it can be programmed for the Bulk/Absorption voltage and have the other items mentioned disabled if applicable. Consult your charger's manual or the manufacturer.
